CineMarket

CineMarket was created exclusively to support Algeria’s film and audiovisual industry, particularly through dedicated post-production support.

Launched in 2025 by the Algiers International Film Festival (AIFF), the programme reflects the Algerian government’s commitment to supporting and strengthening the development of national film and audiovisual creation.

Through CineMarket, the AIFF supports the emergence of a new generation of Algerian filmmakers and producers, while fostering exchanges between international industry professionals and talents from the region.

CineMarket also provides a dedicated professional space for selected project representatives. It offers them the opportunity to expand their professional networks, meet key industry players and stakeholders, engage with experts and strengthen their professional careers, with the aim of facilitating the completion and circulation of their projects.

CineMarket Objectives

• Promote the development of a high-quality film and audiovisual industry in Algeria.
• Encourage cultural employment for local professionals and service providers.
• Encourage initiatives by creative-sector companies and talents, both local and international, and foster their involvement in film and audiovisual projects.
• Create mechanisms that support the structuring and development of the creative industries sector at the local, regional and national levels.
• Foster professional networking, collaborations, co-productions and the circulation of Algerian works.
• Contribute to building Algeria’s film and audiovisual heritage.

In the medium term, CineMarket also aims to contribute to the development of an Algerian audiovisual and cinematographic heritage encompassing both documentary and fiction works.

As part of its support programme, the rights acquisition process will enable the public authorities to progressively build a catalogue of works, promote their distribution throughout Algeria and, over time, ensure their promotion and valorisation at both national and international levels.

In 2025, for its first edition, ten projects were selected for CineMarket, two of which were chosen to receive development support.

CINEMARKET 2025 AWARD WINNERS

Sarah Bertima — Fiction Award Winner

A writer and director from Algeria’s younger generation, she is developing a body of work focused on intimate and social dynamics. Selected and recognized by CineMarket 2025, her project reflects the narrative vitality and renewal of contemporary Algerian fiction.

Djamel Lekhal — Documentary Award Winner

A filmmaker committed to documentary cinema, his work explores questions of memory, territory and living heritage. Selected and recognized by the CineMarket 2025 jury, his project reflects a strong commitment to transmission and historical rootedness.
